Structure
Hat Structure: Shaping Up Your Style
Hat structure refers to how the hat maintains its shape. It's often linked to the style and profile:
- Unstructured: These hats, like camp hats and some 6-panels, have no internal stiffening and will collapse when not worn, offering a relaxed look.
- Soft Structure: Found in mid-profile 6-panels, this structure provides some shape due to light stiffening, creating a balance between casual and structured styles.
- Structured: These hats, including mesh-back 6-panels, A-frame 5-panels, and 7-panels, feature built-in stiffening to maintain their shape, offering a more formal or sporty appearance.
Closures
There are 7 common closure types for hats:
- Snapback: A popular closure featuring adjustable plastic or metal snaps at the back.
- Strap with metal clasp: Similar to the snapback, but with a metal clasp instead of snaps.
- Clip Back: Utilizes a clip closure at the back for adjustability.

Sizing
- Measurement: Hats are sized based on head circumference, measured with the strap adjusted to 75% closure. This measurement typically ranges from 44cm to 62cm.
- Finding your size: Use a soft measuring tape or string to measure around your head, just above your eyebrows.
- Common sizes:
- Low & Mid Profile: 58 cm is the most common size for these hat styles. They tend to sit lower on the head and offer a relaxed fit.
- High Profile: 58.7 cm is the most common size for high profile hats, which have a taller crown and offer a more structured look.
